Frequently Asked Questions
If I don't use the above links, or need a quote for a different line of business, how do I get a quote?
- If you are a current customer, we will be happy to give you a quote by phone or email (this is a benefit to our customer, as we already have their information).
- If you are not a current customer, and are not currently insured, we do ask that you come into our office. When you’re starting from scratch, there is a lot of information that is required to give you an accurate premium. We have several companies to choose from as well, so it’s to your benefit to speak with an agent who will take the time to explain your options and find the best policy for you. We are here to help you, so please help us in return.
- If you are not a current customer and are currently insured, we will be happy to give you a quote by phone or email. Please have the following information ready when you contact us:
- Current declarations from your present insurance company for the policies you want quoted. This provides us the necessary information we require, along with giving you a fair comparison.
- We also require names, birthdays and Social Security Numbers for all insureds (for property policies) and all drivers in the household (for vehicle policies).
Why do you need all this information?
Our rating programs automatically retrieve several reports used for eligibility and underwriting. Examples of typical reports include: Motor Vehicle Reports, CLUE Auto (lists date of claim, type of claim and amount paid), CLUE Property (same info as CLUE Auto), and credit information used to determine an insurance score. *Please note we do not see a credit report (don’t want to, don’t care to). The information is run behind the scenes and all we see is the final rate.
Since all of the above reports play a part in rating, without having your information we cannot give you an accurate premium.
*Please note that our email is not a secure connection, so if you don’t feel comfortable sending confidential information through email, phone, fax or in person are all available options for you.
So, when we provide this information, and we get the quotes, is the rate final?
For vehicle policies, provided we have correct information about coverage requested, vehicles and drivers, the rate you see is usually the final rate.
For property policies, final rates are dependent on a physical inspection of the property. We take photos, and in the case of homeowners policies, we take detailed notes as to the house’s features to determine the replacement cost. Our companies (and most others) use replacement cost as the basis for establishing the home’s coverage amount, so this is the starting point for coverage amount (some of our companies do offer options to insure at a figure lower than replacement cost). This is where it starts to get technical, so some discussion is required.
