January 2012

The Insurance Goddess has struck again! The Professional Insurance Agents Association of Ohio has included an article in the January 2012 issue of their magazine titled, "The Insurance Goddess: How she created her own brand." You can read the article by clicking on the images to the right- the pictures will open up with a full-sized version of each page.

Many thanks to Ted Janusz (Janusz Presentations) for a very well-written article and to PIA of Ohio for supporting and believing in the Insurance Goddess brand. What a tremendous compliment and honor.

Special delivery

Something we take for granted- soda pop- is often a luxury to those serving overseas. A local mlitary wife requested and received several cases of pop from a local distributor to send to her husband and his platoon in Afghanistan. Several local merchants chipped in for postage and the soda is on its way to Afghanistan. We've included the newspaper article here- just click on the picture to see a full-size version. Thank you for allowing us to help brighten the soldiers' day.

Are you looking for ways to help our soldiers overseas and even after they return home? Then sign up for our February newsletter- there will be several organizations/resources listed that could use your help.

Christmas Open House

On December 9, we hosted our annual Christmas Open House. We threw our doors open wide and laid out a spread of homemade cookies & candy, as well as hot coffee and hot chocolate. We had a great turnout and want to say THANK YOU to everyone who dropped by for some Christmas Cheer. It was great to see everyone, especially those we haven't seen for a while. We enjoy seeing our customers, friends and business associates- we have an open door policy!

Agency a stop during Night at the North Pole

For the second year, we participated in downtown Bellefontaine's Night at the North Pole. We got off to a great start, with loads of people dropping by for hot chocolate with whipped cream. Unfortunately, we blew a circuit partyway through the night and didn't recover power the rest of the event. We didn't let that deter us- we stood outside giving away hot chocolate, as well as candy canes and pencils. What a wonderful event for Bellefontaine and we look forward to full participation next year. Don't worry, we've already fixed the problems so they don't happen again!

Giving to those in need

Instead of doing a traditional gift exchange at our office, our staff decided to participate in the Christmas basket program through Lutheran Community Services (an outreach of the First Lutheran Church). We chose two families to "adopt" and based on their wish lists, we bought both Christmas gifts and grocery items. Staff took an afternoon to wrap the gifts and decorate the boxes, then delivered them to Lutheran Services for distribution. We enjoyed this so much that we've already volunteered for next year.

The Christmas gift basket program starts accepting applications in September. If you're interested in participating, please contact Kim Collum at 937-592-9914 and she'll be happy to get you started. If you're not local, we're confident that programs like this exist elsewhere.

If you're anxious to help sooner than Christmas, Our Daily Bread food pantry (also part of Lutheran Community Services) is always accepting donations of nonperishable and canned items. You can call in advance to see what items they need most- 937-592-6325. Hunger knows no holiday, so next time you're at the grocery, throw a few extra items in your cart. They will be very much appreciated.

Carrie explains why it's necessary to "Create Brand You and Blow Away the Competition," her second article for American Agent & Broker.

We love the folks at Insurance Journal for showing the fun side of insurance! They just released their first satire issue and it is fall on the floor funny! Whether you're an insurance professional or a regular consumer, you'll enjoy the ridiculous stories, made-up news and crazy ads. Everyone needs a laugh- thanks to Insurance Journal for providing it.

September 2011

The Insurance Goddess appeared as a panelist at PIA of Ohio's 2011 Agency Management and Profitability conference. The session, entitled "Using Technology to Move Forward", offered real-world applications of technology such as social media and e-mail marketing.

The Goddess spoke specifically on personal branding and how she is using it in her community and the world at large, utilizing a variety of social media outlets.

You can read her blog post about the experience.

You can also view PIA of Ohio's event photos on Facebook.

This was truly an honor and a big thanks goes out to PIA of Ohio for asking and allowing The Insurance Goddess to share with the best insurance professionals around.

October 2011

Erie Insurance recently included an article about The Insurance Goddess in "The Bulletin", their weekly marketing  publication for their agents. We thank Erie for their continued support of our agency and The Insurance Goddess. We couldn't do what we do without our companies help.

2nd Annual Customer Salute

For two days, we honored our customers with our 2nd Customer Salute. We began the celebration with Sweet Treat Thursday and the office was overflowing with homemade goodies such as cookies and cupcakes. The following day was "Thank Goddess It's Friday", with our resident celebrity available for pictures. We served hot dogs (grilled on the spot), chips and drinks to all who dropped by.

Both days offered opportunities to sign up for lots of cool prizes. We thank everyone who joined us and we are truly thankful for your business. We're already making plans for next year!

If you have any suggestions for next year and/or want to comment on this year's event, head over to our Facebook Page and write on our wall :)

Agency is a stop during "Night at the North Pole"

On December 3 from 5-8 pm, the Downtown Bellefontaine Partnership hosted "Night at the North Pole", a winter wonderland complete with Christmas-themed activities such as horse-drawn wagon rides, cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, and a live reindeer display. Merchants were open as well, giving away refreshments and small gift items such as craft kits & candy. We gave away hot chocolate and within the first two hours of the event, gave away 500 cups! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone that walked through our doors and thank the Partnership for allowing us to participate.

Second Annual Christmas Open House

On December 9 we opened our doors wide and welcomed customers and friends to an afternoon of homemade cookies & candy and warm drinks. We also gave out freebies such as calendars, tote bags, chip clips and car litterbags. We appreciate everyone who braved the elements to spend the afternoon with us.

Our First Customer Salute

On July 29 and 30 we decided to hold our first customer appreciation event. On Thursday we invited all of our customers in for Sweet Treat Thursday. The agency had cookies, cupcakes and punch available in the office all day. Friday was Thank Goddess It's Friday! A grill was set up on the sidewalk and all customers were welcomed in for hot dogs, chips and soda from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Insurance Goddess was out meeting and greeting all of our guests during lunch and taking photos with customers. We also had an assortment of door prizes up for grabs and everyone in attendance was given one of our new, durable tote bags. These bags are still available for customers in the office so stop in to get yours today!

Agency Participates In "Paint the Town Purple"

June 19 & 20 was the Logan County Relay for Life. To help promote the event, local businesses participated in "Paint the Town Purple", donating window space to be decorated by Relay teams. Votes cost $1, with the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Our window was decorated by Brenda Moots of the Forsythe Family team and is a fun reflection of Carrie's nickname of the "Insurance Goddess."

Alan Galvez Insurance and Peach Tree Books Co-host Local Event

On May 18, we were pleased to co-host the monthly Logan County Networking Meetup with Peach Tree Books & Company, located across the street from our office. It was a night of firsts- the first block party, the first appearance of the Insurance Goddess and the debut of a special Meetup card offering promotions from certain downtown businesses. Chattan Loch Bistro & Public House catered the event. It was a lot of fun and we had a record-breaking attendance- close to 60 people. Thanks to everyone for attending and those that helped with the event.
