As Valentine’s Day and the season of love gets underway, it’s the perfect time to review your life insurance coverage and talk to family and friends about the many benefits it provides. Life insurance is really “love” insurance. If someone will suffer financially when you die, then you need it. While nothing can replace you, having life insurance means that if something happened to you, your loved ones would be OK financially. Therefore, it is a gift of love for the people who live.
Protect the ones you love- here's some examples of when it's most important.
Married or Getting Married
Many families depend on two incomes. If you died suddenly, would your spouse have enough money to cover your funeral costs, credit card balances, outstanding loans and daily living expenses?
A Parent or About to Become One
Raising a child is one of the most rewarding things a person can do in lif. But it's also one of the most expensive. If you died tomorrow, would your spouse have the ability to provide your children with the opportunities you always wanted them to have? Would there be enough income to pay for childcare, a college education and everything in between? Even parents who don't work outside the home need life insurance because they provide services that would be expensive to replace, such as childcare, transportation and household chores.
And what if you're a single parent? They need life insurance more than anyone because their children rely on them for everything.
Your kids may be long gone from your house, but if something happened to you, would your spouse be able to enjoy his or her hard-earned retirement? With people living longer, it's quite possible your spouse may live several years longer than you. Adequate life insurance can help survivors avoid financial struggles in retirement.
Most single people don't have an urgent need for life insurance. There ARE exceptions though. If you're caring for an aging parent or are guardian for a sibling or other family member, you should consider life insurance. These people are counting on you financially too.
If you haven't reviewed your life insurance coverage in the last 12 months, now is the perfect time to contact your insurance advisor and set up an appointment to do so.
