We just wrapped up our annual Toy Drive for Lutheran Community Services Christmas gift baskets and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the contributions we received. It looks like it was the best year so far! Here's a picture of the final amount of donations. Isn't it amazing?
As a quick recap, each year Lutheran Community Services takes applications from individuals and families requesting a Christmas basket. Households with children get toys in their basket. Some of the applicants are "adopted" by community members/organizations, so those basket items are provided by the adoptive organization. But some aren't adopted. Our toy drive is designed to collect items for those families.
This year was a little different as we were notified that funding had been cut for toys for older kids ages 12-18 (many people don't realize that the "toys" are given up to age 18), so items for older kids were very much in need. We put out the call to our customers and posted reminders on Facebook and you answered the call! Toys from 6 months through teenager were provided, including some beautiful Ohio State gear.
We can't begin to express how grateful we are. First- thanks to our AMAZING customers, who stepped right up and dropped off item after item. For those that saw it on Facebook and responded as well, THANK YOU! No matter how you heard about it, if you contributed, please know we are thankful, as is Lutheran Community Services. When we made our delivery to them, the excited looks on their faces told us everything we needed to know.
Here's another picture of several Lutheran staff members and Carrie posed around the tree.
Please know you have helped make a local child's Christmas special and memorable. And to us- supporting our local community is some of the most satisfying work we do. From our family to yours, thank you and Merry Christmas!
